In other sci-fi news: I've decided that the only way I'll read Invincible is if the library gets it or I win it in a contest. I know some of you are trying to stay spoiler-free, so I won't go into details. I'm sure if there's any J/J goodies, someone on the f-list will post about it. (I'm looking at you
In the non-sci-fi part of my life, I spent last weekend at a baby shower for my friend and then went on to see
My sister comes home on Sunday for the summer, which is muy exciting. I miss her mucho.
Tomorrow I'm subbing for the English teacher I had for half of my time in high school. It's funny yet scary at the same time; the man is not one with whom you would want to mess around.
Anyway, it's just one of those nights where you're waiting for it to be a decent and non-embarrassing hour to call your bedtime.

Second reason--The Office. Seriously, I heart Jim and Pam. But if a guy did a stunt like Jim does in the second clip to me, I'm honestly not sure whether I would find it hysterical or want to break his jaw. Maybe both.
A little background--Pam just set her landlady up on a date with her boss, Michael, which of course went horribly.
And sidenote--I really loved (and felt bad for) Kevin. Poor thing. But the chair bit in the beginning (especially with Pam and Creed) was great.
And reason number three why last night was awesome: I experienced my first earthquake. This, too, should qualify for today, but since it woke me up while I was asleep, I'll still count it for yesterday. It made me want to get up when it happened at 5:36 this morning and turn on Google Earth on my computer. But I didn't.
And now time to watch live streaming of tonight's Battlestar Galactica.

Then I come home where my sister squeaked loudly about the John Krasinski poster she swiped from the Gap she's been working in over break. So jealous.

And, by the way, I really want to see Charlie Wilson's War now that I know Aaron (yes, we're on a first name basis) wrote it (and got a Golden Globe nom for it).
Also, this was posted on givememyremote.com and not only is it just fantastic for many reasons (boys singing pretty a capella, holiday music, etc.), it's just another way to show that IU is better than Purdue. :P Enjoy!

First, to follow up from my last post, my relatives all have power. Most of them got it a day or two after I made that last post. So yay for that.
But speaking of winter weather, we've had our first dose. I was supposed to attend my work's Christmas/my going away party last night, but that was canceled. And our shift for today was canceled, so I hurried home yesterday afternoon to hang out till tomorrow with my dad and my sister, who got home last night from school. We got enough snow to cover the ground yesterday morning and then some ice and more snow early this morning. They canceled all but the latest service at church, and some schools (including the one I'm going to be doing student teaching at next semester) already have two-hour delays up on the news crawl.
I, personally, could do without snow. It's pretty to look out and all that, but I hate walking around in snow and ice. Probably comes from having to do it for four winters at Ohio State. My sister loves it. Guess that's what happens when you head south to go to college.
I finished all my stuff for this semester of school on Thursday and have my last day of work this upcoming Friday. :) My mom's side of the family is getting together to do Christmas this coming Saturday. And a few days later will be my favorite holiday of the year--Christmas Eve. I'll explain that one later.
Meanwhile, some things I need to do over break include but are not limited to: visiting
mustafear (hopefully when
lola64 's in town as well--look out Kentucky!) and Emily, do a bit more tweaking on the resume since my self-appointed head-hunter has already found three high schools just in the area she lives in that need life sciences teachers next August, get a head start on Nawra's diary entries, work on the fic
amphetamine_47 gave me permission to do (and talk with her about how to make it fit after Fury), update
iconic_lydia with all the icons I've made from various contests, and make icons from the last episode of The Office and Razor.
Hope you all are having a good December. And that all you fellow college students survived finals week.

The older cousin got an apartment last week and will move in on Thursday. She'll also be living around here without a car, which she thinks she can manage with. Her youngest sister and I have a feeling will become a new taxi service, which I don't mind too much. Her boyfriend sounds like he's about to be hired at Sony in Nashville, which shoots my thoughts of going back to NYC for spring break down, but oh well.
It's my uncle's birthday today, and I need to go get him a gift. He's going out to Colorado (my favorite state in the nation) to go gold panning next week. So we're all getting him stuff for the trip.
My sister is an RA this year at her school, and her freshmen moved in on Saturday with her upperclassmen moving in today. Haven't talked to her since Friday night and she sounded tired and had the distracted tone of voice like she was going through the list of the 5 million other things she needed to be doing right then. But I'm sure she's fine and hopefully focusing on the fact that now she has a lot of keys, which she will openly tell you was one of the top reasons she wanted the position.
I think that's all from me. I need to get cleaned up and run some errands and ask the older cousin if she wants to come with me in case she wants to look for more furniture.

We ate lots of good food and Kate and I had a mini-movie-marathon thanks to TBS yesterday. I love While You Were Sleeping, so great. Also got to see the last half of Something's Gotta Give and all of the second Bridget Jones movie for the first time. Both were good. Not great, but good.
Dad got me some big tubs to pack stuff in. So now I really don't have an excuse to start packing up what's left in the apartment.
Also have Kate's Alias dvds (the first two seasons) in my possession for the next few weeks. Maybe I'll make icons of that to procrastinate from packing...

For some reason I was really worried that I'd open up the card and find bad grades. I mean, by bad grades I mean mostly B's, but there were only one or two. I also remembered how you waited all year long to see at the bottom of the back page of the card to see that you've been promoted to the next grade. Weird memories.
And after spending an evening of being jealous of my sister, I found a way to get back at her without even trying. All it took was dreaming last night that I was married to John Krasinski. So yay for the double bonus of dreaming that and bragging to my sister. Granted, while I knew I was married throughout the dream, he didn't show up till the end. I didn't know who he would be, so it was a nice and happy surprise. I guess we weren't together or something for Valentine's Day and it was later in the year so he give me a random V-day gift: dinner at a fancy restaurant and some Star Trek memorabilia pins. Excellent gift.

There's been about five different instances where I've been waiting for the cat to show up or thought I heard her, but then I remember she isn't around or off somwhere napping in the sunlight.
We finished our late studies at work last night and even got off an hour early. We don't have anything new till Monday which means I don't have to go in Sunday night. While I like the very nice paychecks, I will not be missing working 8+ hours a night. I'll be more than happy to come home before 12:30am.
That's about all from me for now. I'm sure I was going to talk about more, but I can't remember what it was now.

The next day I went down to Z's and saw her family. Went to church with her on Saturday night. It's been a while since I was at a Vineyard church service and it was nice togo back for a weekend. Had fun being creative a \d wishing I could make myself set aside time to sketch so that maybe I could be come somewhat as good as Z.
Sunday afternoon included a brief visit to Sabrina's open house party. It was good to catch up with her and see her Mom. I can't wait to see where she ends up with a job, because no matter where she'll be doing the world a whole lot of good.
Meanwhile, Kate gets home today. I'll be going home on Friday to hang out with her for a couple of days. Can't wait to see the pictures she took.
